AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
ON-SITE PROVIDERS
On-site providers are after school programs that take place at PS 282. Children are taken directly from class to their after school program. Pick up ranges from 5:30-6pm. PS 282 has five on-site providers for the 2024-2025 school year.

Afterschool offered: M-F, Pre-K - 5th Grade
Kids Orbit offers a variety of enrollment options to meet all scheduling needs. They provide children with a family-like atmosphere during after school hours. They supervise homework and offer a variety of enrichment activities ranging from yoga and sport to art, music and drama. Register here.

After school offered: M-F, K - 5th Grade
Free after school care with a focus on assisting our children socially, emotionally, physically and academically. Applications are available here. ​

After school offered: M-F, Pre-K - 5th Grade
Your tiny scientist will spend their after school hours conducting experiments, learning new concepts, discussing observations with friends, analyzing data, making a mess and learning just how much fun science can be! Fall and full year registration is live here.​​​

Impact Coaching Network - PS 282 Chess Club and Team
After school offered: Monday, K - 5th Grade
From complete beginners to advancing tournament players our goal is that all PS 282 players can experience both the joy & significant social/educational benefits of learning and playing chess. Our PS 282 Team will prepare for local, City, State & National Competitions.

Our in-person programming will match players into groups based on skill, interest level & age. This allows coaches to identify and create the right training environment for each player (complete beginner - advanced competitors). Fall and full year registration is live here.​​​

After school offered: Tuesday, K - 5th Grade
Brooklyn Seeds offers wonderful education outdoor gardening projects that students can do all year round. Students learn how to start, nurture, and successfully care for their own plants. They adopt neighborhood trees and study local birds, so there is a strong community aspect to their projects. Brooklyn Seeds will be on-site after school on Tuesdays. OFF-SITE PROVIDERS
Off-site providers are organizations with varied focuses and schedules, but all hold their classes in spaces other than PS 282. The programs listed here all currently pick up from PS 282. You will also find a list of programs who would be happy to pick up from PS 282 if there is enough demand.

Mindful Sports programs can include baseball, kickball, soccer, flag-football, and more! Engaging creative play, athletics, and mindfulness training helps children have fun, stay safe, and learn the foundation of valuable social and emotional skills. Mindful Sports is for children K-5. Fall registration opens on 6/19 @ 12pm.

Afternoon Club offers well-rounded instruction that stimulates curiosity, develops an appreciation for learning, and offers valuable supplemental lessons that complement and elevate children's early learning experiences. NY Kids Afternoon Club is available on a 1-5 day per week basis for children up to 6 years old. Pick -up is complimentary for families with students enrolled in three or more days per week of Afternoon Club. Register here.

Chess at Three offers top-tier instruction from certified tutors. They create an immersive and enjoyable group learning experience within a warm and inclusive social atmosphere. Chess at Three has programming for K-5. Registration details here.

At Code Ninjas, kids learn to code while building their own video games in a fun, safe, and inspiring environment. Kids gain confidence, logic, resourcefulness, and problem solving skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives. After school, children will participate in 1hr of curriculum, 1hr of homework, and 1hr of STEM activities. Code Ninjas is for children 5+.

At Brooklyn Game Lab, kids play the greatest games in the world, then develop their own ideas to change and expand those games. The first few weeks, kids will get a chance to sample different types of gaming and tell us what they love. After that, each time they come to the lab there will be two great options to suit their preferences--board games, Dungeons & Dragons, Immortal Chess, Monsters & Minis, and more! Register here.
At Beansprouts After School, children engage in a diverse range of activities with dedicated staff in a nurturing environment that inspires growth, creativity, and lasting friendships. PS 282 families receive $250 off. Register here.

The Homage Skateboard Academy is an indoor skateboarding educational facility. Our experienced instructors love to teach skateboarding and are constantly progressing in their teaching abilities, just like their skating abilities. We think that skateboarding is more than just a physical activity though, so we also teach about skateboarding culture and how skateboarding can change the way a person perceives their surroundings. Homage's after school program is for ages 6+. They will be picking up from PS 282 on Thursdays. Register here.​​

Congregation Beth Elohim (CBE)
​Through CBE Kids Club, Congregation Beth Elohim is excited to offer after-school childcare options for children in kindergarten through 5th grade, with flexible enrollment options. Our experienced staff has designed a nurturing after-school program, which includes pickup from PS 282. Register here.​

Nurturing teachers, who specialize in sparking a passion for creative expression in children, know how to make classes special by creating an atmosphere of learning, fun & friendship. Focusing on hand-building and sculpture, painting pottery, mosaic techniques and canvas painting, students will craft bowls, plates, cups, vases as well as amazing sea creatures, animals and more creative fun. Students are taught the fundamentals of slab, pinching, and coil techniques. Register here.
